INTRODUCING 3rd BHUTAN INTERNATIONAL IT & TRAINING EVENT (BIITTE)
Bhutan ICT and Training Association (BICTTA) in collaboration with Department of IT & Telecom (DITT), Ministry of Information & Communications (MoIC), Royal Government of Bhutan is hosting 3rd BIITTE on 21st and 22nd June 2018. The theme for 3rd BIITTE is “Promoting Techno-Entrepreneurship for Digital Economy”. BICTTA is established as an Industry representative body for ICT & Training industry of Bhutan with the mandate to promote and develop the ICT industry both at national and international level.
BICTTA is one of the active member of Asian Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO). ASOCIO is an ICT federation organized by ICT associations representing 24 economies/countries throughout Asia-Pacific and was established in 1984. The core objective of ASOCIO is to promote, encourage, foster relationships and trade between its member economies and develop the computing industry. In 2017, DITT/MoIC was awarded ASOCIO digital governance award 2017.
3rd BIITTE will host insightful presentation, panel discussions and B2B sessions. The sessions will be delivered by global thought leaders, experts and intellectuals. The presentations and panel discussions will focus on promoting Techno- Entrepreneurship Startup Eco-system, Development of Ecommerce Space in Developing Countries, Re-imaging Digital Era, Building innovation Culture, Future of ICT in Bhutan and Citizen Services
Alongside the BIITTE, the ASOCIO Plenary Meeting will also be held.
The event will witness more than 60 ICT Industry players from 24 ASOCIO member countries along with leaders, bureaucrats and officials from Royal Government of Bhutan.

BACKGROUND OF BIITTE:
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is a priority sector for the Royal Government of Bhutan. The sector has seen an impressive development but the challenge still lies in enhancing the capacities and capabilities of the ICT firms to embrace the technology dynamism.
Therefore, one of the strategy to address the challenge is to organize international ICT Events in the country. Such events act as a platform for learning from the trendsetters in the ICT field, networking opportunity, establishing partnership and positioning Bhutan in the global ICT map.
As of date, in collaboration with DITT/MoIC , BICTTA has hosted 2 BHUTAN INTERNATIONAL IT & TRAINING EVENT (BIITTE). The success achieved from the 1st BIITTE prompted both DITT and BICTTA to declare BIITTE as an annual ICT event. Today BIITTE is recognized as international brand and very popular in 23 member countries of Asian Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO). The last 2 BIITTE have promoted more than 60 business partnerships and 2 FDI establishment in Thimphu Tech Park, employing more than 300 ICT professionals.
The BIITTE event has always focused on inviting global thought leaders, ICT industry players, ICT professionals in Bhutan to provide an open forum to discuss and learn on the technology trends, role of ICT in economic development in line with the development philosophy of Gross National Happiness and create B2B platforms to promote international inbound and outbound trades in ICT sector.
